FAQs

Is Academy Canada nationally accredited?
Academy Canada is proud of its National Accreditation by the Canadian Education and Training Accreditation Commission, formerly known as the National Accreditation Commission of Canada.

Being Nationally Accredited means that we meet standards of instruction that are among the best in Canada; it means our students can be proud of the education and training they receive.

What are the fees for international?
Tuition: Full-time/3 semesters (1 Year) - $15,000 (Canadian), unless otherwise stated.

When are fees due?
Upon receipt of the Letter of Acceptance, applicants must forward tuition to the college. Tuition fees must be forwarded prior to the start date of the program. Should the Canadian Embassy not award a visa, tuition will be refunded.

What about living accommodation?
Academy Canada will provide students with an apartment/boarding house list upon request. Prices for room and board will vary according to the type of accommodations selected.

Do I need medical insurance?
All international students studying at Academy Canada will require full medical coverage while in attendance. Medical plans and costs vary according to the specifics of a plan. Academy Canada, upon request, will provide students with information pertaining to various medical plans and we can recommend a variety of plans; however, it is the student's responsibility to obtain medical coverage. Academy Canada is prepared to assist students in making their selection of a medical plan.

I am planning on studying at Academy Canada, what do I do now?
Before you apply for your student authorization or visa, you must have:

- a valid passport
- a letter of acceptance from a Canadian school
- proof that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants for your entire stay in Canada
- a letter from your sponsoring organization if you are being sponsored
- a medical clearance, if required

What is the application process for international students?
1. Applicants must complete and submit an Application Form plus an administration fee of $100 (Canadian). Applicants must also submit proof of English proficiency and an official copy of there most current academic transcripts. All application documentation must be submitted to the address below. For an application form contact Academy Canada's International Office at the address, phone number, fax number, or e-mail given below.

2. Academy Canada's admissions department reviews all applications. Successful applicants receive a Letter of Acceptance. This letter will be forwarded to the applicant at the address specified on the application form. This letter will confirm enrolment, program of study, length of the program, academic level of program, registration date (late registration date if applicable), tuition fees and other expenses (indicate whether fees are prepaid by the applicant), and the Canadian institutions licensing information.

3. Upon receipt of the Letter of Acceptance, applicants must take the letter to the nearest Canadian Embassy (High Commission, Consulate, Canadian diplomatic mission) to obtain a Student Authorization and an entry visa into Canada, if required. Students should request from the immigrations officer, an information package detailing the documents required in a student visa application: Typically the following items are requested:
a. Personal documentation verifying identification (e.g. a passport)
b. A Letter of Acceptance into the institution
c. Confirmation of funds available. The funding must demonstrate the ability to cover tuition and living expenses for one year.

4. Student Authorization may then be issued from the Canadian diplomatic mission. The applicant may then make appropriate arrangements to travel to Canada and begin their studies.

Do I need a passport or visa?
Citizens and permanent residents of the United States, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and Greenland will require a passport or visa. If they do not have one, they are only entitled to stay for a period of six (6) months. If you are coming from anywhere else, you will need a passport and possibly a visa as well. Please refer to the following web site for the list of countries whose nationals need a visa to come to Canada: www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.html

If you do not have access to the Internet, officials in your country will inform you whether you need a visa before you leave home. The Canadian visitor visa is affixed to a page of your passport. It shows the date by which you must arrive in Canada, and whether it is valid for one or more entries to Canada.

When you arrive in Canada, you must show your passport. The passport will be stamped with the date on which you must leave Canada. Please ensure that the period allowed covers your whole stay. If you require an extension of your student authorization, contact the appropriate personnel to obtain an application kit. Do not stay beyond the date stamped on your passport. If there is something you don't understand, immigration officers will be happy to help you.

If you want to renew your passport while you are in Canada, contact your embassy or consulate at least two months before your passport expires. You may wish to keep a photocopy of your passport, visitor visa, and most recent immigration stamp and student authorization for your own records. Make sure that your passport will allow you to return home or travel to another country if you wish.
