This is awarded to an instructor exemplifying leadership, compassion, student and school involvement, and extra-curricular commitment. Based on student recommendations, an instructor from each campus is awarded this honour. The response we received was so overwhelming that we decided to present two instructors from each campus with this award. Our recipients are Sandi Burden, Criminology Instructor, and Mike Brothers, Business Administration Instructor, from the Kenmount Road Campus and Bernie-Ann Ezekiel, Cooking Instructor, and Mike Melay, Plumbing Instructor from the Harding Road Campus.

Following the awards presentation, the audience enjoyed a “Year in Review” picture presentation, featuring students and staff pictures from both campuses during various events that have occurred throughout the year. Thank you to Judy Shields and Steve Sutton for putting together this excellent slideshow which everyone appreciated.

Finally, the President’s Award is Academy Canada’s highest honour awarded to one student from each campus reflecting the ideals we strive to instill in all graduates including leadership, professionalism, positive attitude, good overall average, and a willingness to participate in school and extra-curricular activities. Staff members provide recommendations to Academy Canada President, Mr. Mike Barrett, who then selects a recipient. It was a difficult decision to make since there are several deserving students for this award. Mr. Carl Barrett presented these awards to Mr. Cory Bradbury, Harding Road Campus Construction/Industrial Electrician Student and Laura Synyard, Kenmount Road Campus Occupational Health and Safety Student.

Congratulations to our 2011 Grads. You did it!
