Corner Brook Campus

Colin Burridge | Principal

In March 2010, Colin took on the challenge of Vice-Principal with the University Drive Corner Brook Campus. Colin is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), with a diploma in Computer Technology and brings with him 8 years of work experience in Network Administration and experience as a post-secondary Instructor. Colin is a graduate of Academy Canada.

Glen Hawkins | Vice Principal

Glen has been with Academy Canada for 13 years teaching both trades and non-trades programs including Welder and Business Administration. He has also worked with curriculum in the past and holds a Post-Secondary Instructor's Certificate, Business Administration Diploma, and Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate (Welder).

Suzanne Jordan | Apprenticeship/Employment Coordinator

Suzanne graduated from Academy Canada in 1999 with the Office Administration Technology (Legal, Medical, and Engineering) Diploma. As part of her role, she notifies students/graduates of employment opportunities through the College Alumni Chapter, and manages all student Workterms and Practicums. She works closely with the Division of Industrial Training, Department of Education, Industry, and Apprenticeships across Canada. She also arranges all advanced training classes for both the St. John's and Corner Brook campuses.

Doug Osmond | Facilities Manager

Prior to moving into his role as Facilities Manager, Doug had over 10 years work experience as Computer Lab Demonstrator and Software Applications Instructor with Academy Canada. Doug also holds the position of Occupational Health and Safety Committee Co-Chair, Employer and Certified Trainer. He is also a WHMIS Certified Trainer. Doug holds a Microcomputer Applications Diploma from Academy Canada.

Paul Quigley | Curriculum Coordinator

Mr. Quigley has 31 years of educational experience within our province. His roles have included Classroom Teacher, Principal, Program Coordinator with the former Humber St. Barbe School Board, Teacher Supervisor for several teacher interns, and English Department Head at St. Peters Academy, Regina High School and Corner Brook Regional High. Mr. Quigley holds the following degrees: Masters in Curriculum, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Quigley also brings extensive experience with evaluation and assessment having served on the English 3201 Public Exam Marking Board and he has also served on several committees in the area of teacher professional development at the school district level.

Kristofer Reid | Admissions Officer

Kris has a Major in History, Minor in Geography/Religious Studies from MUN and a Diploma in Hospitality/Tourism Management from College of the North Atlantic. Kris has a wealth of experience in event planning and developing; strategic planning, project management; customer service, etc.

Kelly Rubia | Registrar

Kelly first began her work with Academy Canada in November as a Student Services Coordinator Assistant. In January 2010 she was proudly given the title of Student Support Coordinator. Kelly brings with her 10 years experience in the tourism industry. She is also a graduate of Academy Canada’s Criminology program and is currently working on her B.A. in Community Studies specializing in Psychology from Cape Breton University.

Kenmount Road Campus, St. John's

Anita Abbott | Principal

Anita joined the Academy Canada Staff in 2007 and as worked as both Student Support Coordinator and Vice Principal. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Diploma in Adult Teacher Education from Memorial University with 5 years teaching experience in an Adult Basic Education program.

Randy Atkinson | Network Administrator/Computer Technician

Randy graduated from Academy Canada’s Computer Support Specialist program in 2008. He took on the role of Network Administrator/ Computer Technician in August 2009. In addition to his diploma from Academy Canada, he also holds a diploma in Accounting and Micro Computer Business Applications.

Neil Bolt | Information Technology Manager

Neil began working with Academy Canada in 2001 and entered the role of Information Technology Manager in 2010. He has more than a decade of experience in computer/network support and management and has worked in various roles throughout the years. Neil also has several years of experience as a post-secondary Instructor. As the Information Technology Manger Neil is responsible for the overall management of Academy Canada’s technology infrastructure and is presently located at the Kenmount Road campus.

Tammy Fry | Business Officer

Tammy joined Academy Canada in 2004 with an Office Administration Technology Diploma with business office experience in the field. She is also a graduate of Academy Canada's Office Administration Technology Program.

Brian Galway | Curriculum Coordinator

Mr. Galway has 30 years experience as an educator within Newfoundland and Labrador. His roles included Classroom Teacher, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Associate Assistant Director with the Avalon East School Board. Mr. Galway holds the following degrees: Masters of Education, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Galway also has made significant contributions to postsecondary education in his roles as Coordinator Regulatory Compliance, Program Development Coordinator and Academic Administrator for Eastern College.

Shannon Harding | Vice Principal

Shannon joined the Kenmount Road Staff in October 2010 as the Campus Vice Principal. Shannon has a bachelor of Science in Environmental and Resource Management, a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate senior science and geography with many years experience in her field.

Colleen Power | Employment Coordinator

Colleen joined Academy Canada in 2004, and has held various positions at the Kenmount Road and Harding Road campuses. She is a graduate from Academy Canada's Office Administration Technology program.

Priscilla Rose | Business Office Coordinator

Priscilla joined Academy Canada in 1998 with a Business Administration Accounting Diploma, Simply Accounting Courses with many years work experience in her field.

Judy Shields | Registrar

Judy joined us in 2005 as an Instructor for the Photographic Studies program, and now holds the Registrar position. She is a graduate from such programs as Accounting and Advanced Photographic program at the College of the North Atlantic, and has a 3rd level CGA Designation. She has been a practicing Photographer for 20 years, and co-owner/operator of Photographic Services/All Occasion Video and Photography.

Patricia Trahey | Admissions Assistant

Patricia first came to Academy Canada in 2004 as a student in our Business Technology program. She joined our Administrative Team in 2008, and brings her wealth of administrative, management, and business owner experience.

Julie Yetman | Student Support Coordinator

Julie joined our instructional staff as a Criminology Instructor in 1997, and our Administrative staff as a Student Support Coordinator in 2006. She has completed over 6 years at Memorial University of Newfoundland obtaining a BA with a major in Women's Studies, completed several courses in the areas of Psychology, Education, and Social Work. She possesses a BA in Sociology, a Certificate in Criminology, as well as a Certificate in Adult Education.

Harding Road Campus, St. John's

Steven Browne | Principal

Steve joined the Academy Canada staff in 2009 and held the position of Campus Program Coordinator before the Vice Principal role. Steve has a Bachelor of Education degree with a strong teaching background and 23 years of management experience.

Gayle Elliott | Vice Principal

Gayle joined the Academy Canada staff in 2008 as the campus Registrar. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a Bachelor of Education (Post–Secondary Studies) Degree with many years experience in her field.

Paul Henderson | Facilities Manager

Paul has been with Academy Canada since 2008. He started as a Related Training instructor but in 2009 became the campus Facilities Manager. Paul has over 12 years managerial experience in various capacities, and over 15 years experience in computer technology as well as A+ Certification.

James Loder | Community Relations Director

Bachelor of Commerce (Human Resources), Counsellor Training, and 11 years experience as college administrator with 3 years experience as Career Counsellor. Past Vice-President of the Clarenville and Mount Pearl Chambers of Commerce as well as a current member of the Executive Committee for the National Association of Career Colleges, and the NL Association of Career Colleges.

Lisa Lovelady | Curriculum Manager

Lisa started with Academy Canada in 2005. She has a Bachelor of Science (Honours), a Bachelor of Education and is working towards her Master of Education Degree. She has 5 years teaching experience at the secondary level and 4 years administrative experience at the post-secondary level.

Tracy Lynch | Administrative Assistant

Tracy graduated from Academy Canada’s Office Administration Technology (Medical, Dental, Legal, Engineering) program in March 2009. Three months after graduating from her program, she was hired as the Harding Road Campus Administrative Assistant, and is a great addition to our Administrative Support team.

Heather Nugent | Registrar

Graduating from Academy Canada¹s Business Administration program in 2006, Heather has worked with Academy Canada since July 2010 as Administrative Assistant and in the Business office before accepting a position as registrar in March 2011. Heather loves the great outdoors and enjoys walking, camping, and fishing with her puppy Boo.

Andrea Walsh | Student Financial Officer

Andrea first joined Academy Canada in 1997 as part of the Business Office Staff. She has over 10 years experience as an Office Administrator in a College setting. Since she began, Andrea has worked at both the Kenmount Road and Harding Road Campuses.

Wayne A. Young | Maintenance Manager

Wayne graduated from Academy Canada’s Carpentry program in 2006 and started working with Academy Canada in 2007.He has 30 years experience in business, management, purchasing and sales.
