William Bennett | Adult Basic Education Instructor

William (Bill) has a B.Sc. and a B.Ed. from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Bill holds a Grade VI Teaching Certificate and has 17 years experience at the secondary level. His training is primarily in the field of Biology, however, he holds numerous certificates in the field of Computer Technology.

Donna Burke | Therapeutic Recreation (Disability Support and Geriatric Profession) Instructor

Donna Burke joined Academy Canada in January 2011 as our Therapeutic Recreation Instructor. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. Donna has a specialization in Therapeutic Recreation and a minor in Gerontology from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario. Donna also holds a Bachelor’s degree in French as a second language. Donna has also worked in the field of Therapeutic Recreation in Kitchener Ontario within various health care settings which included a seniors’ day program, long-term care facilities, retirement homes and the hospital.

Greg Colbourne | Occupational Health and Safety Instructor

Greg Colbourne joined our team of instructors in September 2010 as an Occupational Health and Safety instructor. Greg has completed four years of studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Pure Mathematics Major and an English Minor (Bachelor of Science Degree). Upon completing his university studies Greg moved to Calgary, Alberta and began working in a supervisory role for a large heavy civil construction company. While working for this company Greg also completed a two year Occupational Health and Safety program with the Alberta Construction Safety Association and subsequently began a new role within this company as its Occupational Health and Safety Officer that he held for over ten years. Greg has also conducted numerous Occupational Health and Safety audits of other companies in Alberta for the Alberta Construction Safety Association. Greg brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him as an instructor of Occupational Health and Safety here at Academy Canada.

Catherine Companion, RN | Home Support Worker/Personal Care Attendant Instructor

Catherine is a graduate of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital School of Nursing (1992). She joined Academy Canada in January 2011, instructing the Home Support Worker/ Personal Care Attendant Program. Catherine has 19 years of experience in various fields of nursing and has been teaching the Home Support Worker/ Personal Care Attendant Program for 3 years.

Linda Corbett | Office Administration Technology Instructor

Linda has over 10 years experience in the field of Office Administration and a diverse academic background. Linda holds an Office Administration Executive Diploma from the College of the North Atlantic, a Diploma in DOS 5.0 and Computers from Lawrence College, as well as French Levels I, II, and III, and Word Processing Levels I, II, and III.

Dorm Dalley | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Dorm joined the Academy Canada team in April and teaches the entry level courses in the Construction / Industrial Electrician program. Dorm has more than 40 years of work experience as a Red Seal in the Construction and Industrial settings.

Frank Diamond | Cooking Instructor

Frank holds his Inter-provincial Journeypersons certificate in Commercial Cooking. Along with his academic credentials, Frank also has over 14 years cooking experience including management experience.

Paulette Doucette | Criminology Instructor

Paulette has more than 3 years experience as an Instructor in Academy Canada's Criminology and Law Enforcement programs. Paulette comes to Academy Canada with a Bachelor's degree from St. Thomas University majoring in both Criminology and Psychology. Paulette also has more than 4 years experience as a Youth Counsellor with the John Howard Society.

June Eldridge | Related Courses Instructor

June brings with her 31 years experience with HRDC in program administration and employment counseling. She has had a great amount of formal training; most notably a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from the University of New Brunswick, a B.ED (Secondary) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a M.Ed. in Educational Foundations specializing in Guidance and counseling from the University of New Brunswick.

Sharon Evans | Occupational Health and Safety Instructor

Sharon joined our team of instructors in January 2010 as our Occupational Health and Safety instructor. Sharon graduated with a diploma of Business Administration from District Vocational School in 1981, followed by a diploma of Medical Administration from Bay St. George Community College. In 2009 she attended the University of Fredericton where she obtained a certificate in Health, Safety and Environment. Sharon also brings with her many years of experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field.

Glen Hawkins | Welding Instructor

Glen has both a diploma in Business Administration and is a Journeyperson Welder has been with Academy Canada since 1998. He has taught in both the Business Administration faculty as well as in his current role as Instructor in our Welder program.

Wayne Howell | Advanced Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Wayne joined our team in the winter of 2008, and teaches entry and advanced level training. Wayne has his Interprovincial Red Seal as an Industrial Electrician, and has more than 30 years experience with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro in electrical and technical training, as well as extensive experience at a Post-Secondary Level.

Tracey Humphries | Office Administration Technology Instructor

Tracey joined our team in 2008 as instructor for the Dental portion of our Office Administration Technology program. Tracey has over 12 years of experience in the field as a Dental Assistant / Dental Receptionist. Tracey possesses a diploma in both Dental Assistant and Business Administration (Marketing).

Denise Hynes | Related Instructor

While Denise is our newest staff member, she is no stranger to Academy Canada. Denise graduated from our Esthetics and Spa Management with Electrolysis program in Spring 2005, and has been working in the Corner Brook area for the last three years in the industry. Prior to commencing her studies with us in 2003, Denise worked for years in Ontario in the wholesale of Esthetics products and Aromatherapy products. Since graduating, Denise has become Nationally Certified by the NACC in Esthetics.

Tom Matthews | Steamfitter/Pipefitter Instructor

Tom came to us in January 2009 and brings with him 30 years of experience in the industry as a Red Seal Pipefitter. Tom worked as a Pipefitter for Corner Brook Pulp & Paper until 2007 and is a valued addition to our team.

Linda McHugh | Hairstylist Instructor

Journeyperson Hairstylist, Diploma of Vocational Education with 34 years work experience as a Hairstylist, Owner and Operator of a Hairstylist Salon and as a Hairstylist Instructor.

Karen McNeil | Business Administration Instructor

Karen joined the Academy Canada team in September 2006, and brings with her an MBA (Master of Business Administration) as well as years of extensive management experience in hospitality and food services industries. In addition to her current role as our Business Administration Instructor, Karen also teaches in our Hospitality and Resort Operations and Office Administration programs.

Robin Rendell | Esthetics & Spa Management Instructor

Trained at the Dubarry International College of Health & Beauty Therapy in London, England, and brings with her more than 20 years work experience in the field. She is a member Society of Health & Beauty Therapists and the Finnish Sauna Society.

Everett Rowe | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Everett has been part of the Academy Canada team since March 2006 and is a Journeyperson Construction Electrician with over 30 years work experience in both construction and industrial settings.

Beverly Sheppard | Law Enforcement Administration Instructor

Bachelor of Arts, LLB, with several years work experience as a Lawyer and post secondary Instructor in the fields of Paralegal training, Psychology as well as her current role teaching related courses in our Trades Programs.

Karen Tulk | Therapeutic Recreation Instructor

Karen joined us in September 2009 as our new Therapeutic Recreation instructor. She brings with her a Bachelor of Recreation Management from Acadia University, along with seven years of experience in the recreation field. Prior to her career in recreation, Karen worked with the Canadian Forces for 25 years.

Trent Wells, RMT | Massage Therapy Instructor

Trent first started with our campus in September 2009 as an additional instructor to our Massage Therapy program. He is a Registered Massage Therapist and brings with him a diploma of Massage Therapy from CompuCollege. Prior to his Massage Therapy training, Trent worked with the YMCA organizing community events.

Agnes Beresford White | Medical Laboratory Assistant Instructor

Agnes is the newest member of the Academy Canada Instructional team in our newest program Medical Laboratory Assistant. Agnes brings over 28 years of experience to the classroom and is a member in good standing with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science.

Natasha Abbott | Adult Basic Education Instructor

Natasha has recently joined the Adult basic Education team at academy Canada. She comes to us with experience with the Eastern District school board. Natasha holds a B.Ed. and a B.Sc. from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Deidre Baker | Massage Therapy Instructor

Deidre joined our instructional staff in 2009 and holds an active membership with the Newfoundland Labrador Massage Therapist Association and the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a Registered Massage Therapist who has been successfully running her Massage Therapy business for the last 5 years.

Joanne Bennett | Therapeutic Recreation (Disability Support and Geriatric Professional) Instructor

Joanne joined Academy Canada in 1997, and teaches the Therapeutic Recreation (Disability Support and Geriatric Professional) program. She brings with her wealth of experience and knowledge through her conjoint degree in Physical Education and Education, coupled with a degree in Special Education. She is actively involved with the community, and continues to maintain a constant connection with professionals in the Therapeutic Recreation industry.

Mike Brothers | Business Administration (Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting) Instructor

Mike has been teaching Business and Related Training courses for Academy Canada since 2002, having about ten years experience in Business Management. In addition to his Post Secondary Education Teaching Certificate from Memorial University of Newfoundland, he holds a BComm from Saint Mary's University, and a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from MacKenzie College.

Sandi Burden | Criminology Instructor

Sandi began working with Academy Canada as a Criminology Instructor in 1995, coming from the John Howard Society, where she held such positions as Night Supervisor and Volunteer Coordinator. Her studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland include a BA (Honours) in Sociology/Women's Studies, a Certificate in Criminology, and a Certificate in Vocational Education.

Katie Corbett | Adult Basic Education and Related Instructor

Katie Corbett began with the Academy Canada team as an instructor within the ABE program. Katie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts as well as a Bachelor of Education focussing on English and Drama. She is also instructing related courses such as Approaches to Literature.

Brian Davis | Adult Basic Education Instructor

Brian has been teaching Adult Basic Education at Academy Canada since 2006, with over 30 years teaching experience in the public school systems of Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador. Brian holds a BA(Ed) and a BA in English, both from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Michelle Dominey Romykh | Hairstylist Instructor

Michelle enjoyed working as a Cosmetologist for 14 years before joining Academy Canada as a Hairstylist Instructor in 1997. She continues to keep current in her field and holds many different certificates including Framesi Technical Colour Certificate, RUSK Advanced Education Program, Jessica Level Two Certificate, Well International Hair Design, Cutting and Colouring Certificate, Tressa Colour Certificate, and LCN Body Spa Technical Certificate. She has completed her Post Secondary Education Diploma at Memorial University of Newfoundland and has obtained her Hairstylist Red Seal Certification.

Lee-Ann Flemming | Esthetics Instructor

Lee-Ann first began the Esthetics and Spa Management program in 1998. She hold an Esthetics Certification, Nail Technician Certificate, as well as a Red Seal Hairstyling, and an Administrative Assistant Diploma. She is a member of ISPA (International Spa Association) and keeps current in her field by speaking and attending trade shows both within and outside the province, and by taking various courses and attending numerous professional seminars nationally and internationally in the Esthetics field. She is the owner of I. C. Spa Products, exclusively catering to the Spa Industry. Ms. Fleming is also NACC Certified.

Glenda Hall | Esthetics and Spa Management Instructor

Glenda graduated from the Esthetics Program at Academy Canada in 2003. In 2002 she began working as an Esthetician with Samshara Spa, where she continues to be employed. In 2007, she became a Demonstrator in the Esthetics program and in 2009, she became an instructor within that program.

Annette Hill | Medical Laboratory Assistant Instructor

Annette joined our team of instructors in October 2009 as our Medical Laboratory Instructor. Annette graduated with a diploma of Business Administration from Certificate and a Bachelor of Technology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She attended College of North Atlantic where she obtained a Medical Laboratory Technology Diploma.

Tim Hodder | Adult Basic Education Instructor

Tim has been teaching Adult Basic Education at Academy Canada since September of 2010, with 6 years teaching experience both in NL and overseas. Tim holds a B. Sc, a B. A. and a B.Ed in History and Math, all from The Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Diploma of Vocational Education, Diploma of Applied Information Technology, Diploma of Dental Assisting - Level II, Diploma of Cosmetology, seven years experience in Medical, Dental and General Office Administration with 14 years teaching experience.

Sahar Kafala | Hairstylist Demonstrator

Sahar has been with working as a Demonstrator within the Hairstylist program at Academy Canada since September of 2010. Sahar is a Red Seal hairstylist with 10 years of experience. She also has her B.A. in Philosophy from Alexandria University in Egypt.

Mike Kerfont | Computer Aided Drafting Instructor

Mike began teaching Computer Aided Drafting in 2001. He holds a diploma in Computer Aided Drafting and a Certificate in Adult Education. Mike works with contractors through his own home design and drafting company which began in 1998. He continues to work closely with Skills Canada and industry professionals.

Glenn King | Criminology and Law Enforcement Administration Instructor

Glenn has been with Academy Canada since 1995. He teaches Criminology as well as Law Enforcement Administration. He has a Vocational Education Diploma, a Diploma in Community Studies/Corrections, and a Fitness Coordinator Certification.

Barry LaSaga | Interior Decorator Instructor

Barry has been teaching Interior Decorating for Academy Canada since 2007. His fifteen years of experience in the field of Interior Decorating and Design, including four years spent in Singapore, where he was a Lecturer at the LaSalle International Design School. His education includes a Certificate in Life Drawing from Ottawa School of Art and Diploma of Applied Arts from Algonquin College.

Sarah Learmonth | Legal Studies Instructor

Sarah came to Academy Canada in September 2010 as a part-time Legal Studies instructor. Meanwhile she is also a Barrister, Solicitor and Notary with Ottenheimer Baker. In addition to her Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie, Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Rose Linstead | Massage Therapy Instructor

Rose Linstead joined the Massage Therapy program as a part time instructor in September of 2011. Having 5 years of experience in her field in addition to acting as Executive Director within the College of Massage Therapy of Newfoundland and Labrador, Rose is an excellent addition to the team . She is also currently opening a private practice in St. John’s.

Terry Lucas | Computer Aided Drafting Instructor

Terry has been an Computer Aided Drafting instructor since 1994, and joined Academy Canada in 1997. He is a Certified Engineering Technology and a Vocational Education Certificate, and an Electronics Communication Technology Diploma.

Jackie Morry | Adult Basic Education Instructor

Jackie began teaching the Adult Basic Education program in 1996. She has a degree in Biology, and a degree in Education, both received from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Dana Martin | Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist Instructor

Dana Martin has joined Academy Canada as an instructor in the Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist program. She comes to us with 7 years of experience in her field. Dana holds Diploma in Animal Health Technology from Nova Scotia Agricultural College as well as a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. With her previous teaching experience she is excited about being in front of a class again.

Amy Norris | Massage Therapy Instructor

Amy joined Academy Canada in June 2010 as a Massage Therapy Instructor. She brings with her 10 years experience; which includes a Diploma in Massage Therapy from ICT Northumberland College, as well as 3 years as an instructor. Amy holds an active memberships with both the Newfoundland and Labrador Massage Therapist Association (NLMTA) and the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMTNL). Previously she has held the positions of Examination Officer and Director with the CMTNL.

Jennifer Noseworthy | Massage Therapy Instructor

Jennifer Noseworthy has been welcomed as a member of the Massage Therapy team at Academy Canada. She comes to use with a Diploma in Massage Therapy from Algonquin College and 9 years of experience in her field. Jennifer maintains a private practice in St, John’s and is excited to impart her knowledge and experience to her students.

Kevin Pinhorn | Music and Recording Arts Instructor

Kevin joins the Academy Canada team in the Music and Recording Arts program. He comes to us with a Diploma in Audio Engineering and Multimedia Production from Recording Arts Canada. Kevin is also currently a Studio Engineer with Recordtime Productions and a Live Sound Engineer with Live Sound Re-enforcement.

Jill Porter | Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist Instructor

Jill has taught the Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist program since 2006. She brings with her 10 years of Veterinary Clinic experience and a Diploma in Veterinary Assistant Receptionist. She is an active member of the community, visiting various clinics to keep up to date as well as Humane Services, Rainbow Riders, Fluvarium, and dairy farms. She is involved with the Hills Veterinary Nutritional Advocate program, and continues to attend dog shows and learn from the industry.

Bob Richard | Natural Resources Instructor

Bob has been teaching the Natural Resources program at Academy Canada since 1996. He brings to his work about six years experience in the field of Aquaculture. In addition to a Certificate in Vocational Education, his background includes a BSc from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Graduate Diploma in Aquaculture from the Marine Institute.

James Sare | Related Training Instructor

James joined us in 2006 and has taught within the Business Administration (Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting) program, Computer Support Specialist program, and as a Related Training Instructor for various programs requiring business or computer related courses. He brings with him 15 years of business community experience, 3 years of computer support experience, and has taught in the post secondary environment since 1983. Coupled with this experience, he holds a diploma in Computer Studies as well as a certificate in Adult Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Mary Singleton | Office Administration Technology Instructor

Mary joined us in 1999 bringing with her 14 years of Administrative Support experience. She possesses an Office Administration Diploma and an Adult Education Certificate. She is currently working towards a Diploma in Adult Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Stephen Squires | Legal Studies (Paralegal Professional) Instructor

Stephen joined Academy Canada in 1999 to teach Legal Studies (Paralegal Professional), bringing with him various educational disciplines and experience. He possess a Certificate in Adult Education, Bachelor of Law, Master of Science with major in Biochemistry, and Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology.

Yvonne Squires | Medical Laboratory Assistant Instructor

Yvonne Squires joined the Medical Laboratory Assistant team in May of 2011. She joins Academy Canada after recently retiring from Eastern Health. She is excited to be headed on the next path of her career as an instructor.

Dr. Martin Steffan | Music and Recording Arts Instructor

Martin joined our team of instructors in January 2010 as our Music and Recording Arts instructor. Martin graduated with a Bachelor of Music Theory from University of Western Ontario, followed by a MA in Music Theory from University of Denver. Martin also brings with him a Ph. D. in Music Theory from University of California. In addition, Martin was an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Regina, the University of Southern Mississippi and Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Steve Sutton | Multimedia Graphic Design Instructor

Steve joined Academy Canada in 2008 teaching the Multimedia Graphic Design program. He possesses a diploma in 2D Art and Animation, Art and Animation Advanced, and Computer Support Specialist. He brings with him four years experience in Quality Assurance and Graphic Design.

Lenny Vineham | Multimedia Graphic Design and Related Instructor

Lenny Vineham joined the Academy Canada team in May of 2011. He has taught a number of our related courses in various programs and is currently instructing within the Multimedia and Graphic Design Program. Lenny comes to us with a varied background ranging from graphic design to journalism. He has a Certificate in Office Administration and after beginning a Degree in Journalism changed majors and obtained Diplomas in both Web Design and Video Production.

Natalie Whelan | Occupational Health and Safety and Related Instructor

Natalie Whelan is a teacher at heart. After obtaining her Bachelor of Business Administration, Natalie began to pursue a career in education, working towards her Bachelor of Adult Education. Natalie has worked in a variety of different environments ranging from Law Offices to Classrooms, and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. Natalie has taught a number of related courses in various programs but has also spent time instructing within both the Business Administration and Office Administration Technology programs.

Joanne White | Massage Therapy Coordinator and Instructor

Joanne joined Academy Canada in January of 2011 as a Massage Therapy Instructor and Program Coordinator. She brings with her over 11 years experience; which includes a Diploma in Massage Therapy from College of the North Atlantic, as well as 11 years as the owner of a successful practice. Amy holds an active memberships with both the Newfoundland and Labrador Massage Therapist Association (NLMTA) and the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador (CMTNL). Previously she has held the position of Examination Officer with the CMTNL and is currently the acting Chair.

Julie Yetman | Criminology Instructor And Student Support Coordinator

Julie joined out instructional staff as a Criminology Instructor in 1997, and our administrative staff as Student Support Coordinator in 2006. She graduated from Memorial University in 1995, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women's Studies, as well as a Criminology certificate. She has also obtained her Certificate in Vocational Education. While in university, Julie volunteered with the John Howard Society, the Women's Resource Centre, and after graduation, with the 7th Step Society at Her Majesty's Penitentiary.

Patsy Chesney | Animal Grooming Instructor

Patsy came to Academy Canada in April 2010. She has a Diploma in Animal Care Technology from Career Academy. She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge in her field.

Gary Clarke | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Over 30 years experience in Electrical Construction area with licenses in Canada and 16 US States. Spent 10 years as Director at Helix Electrical University in California.

Jason Cooper – Welding Instructor

Jason Cooper started with Academy Canada in September 2010 as our Welding Instructor. He was born and raised in Fortune, Newfoundland, a small town on the Burin Peninsula, along with his older brother and parents. In 2001, Jason received his Interprovincial Journeymen Welding Certificate. He worked across Canada, most notably in Nunavut.

Jim Connors – Insulator (Heat & Frost) Instructor

Jim is the newest additional to the instructional staff. He is a Red Seal Journeyman Insulator (Heat & Frost). Jim brings with him a wealth of knowledge from over 40 years working in the Insulator field.

Ken Evans | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Journeyperson Electrician with 38 years experience in the industrial field.

Bernie-Ann Grace Ezekiel | Cooking and Related Instructor

Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Commercial Cooking & certified Ship’s Cook with 7 years experience in the field. Spent the majority of that time competing in and judging local culinary competitions, acquiring 4 medals along the way. Currently working toward a Diploma in Vocational Education.

Melvin Fry | Carpentry Instructor

Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter, Architectural Drafting Technologist, and Certificate in Business Administration. Possesses 29 years experience in the Construction field. He recently graduated from MUN with a Bachelor of Education (Post Secondary) Degree.

Barbana Ann Geehan | Occupational Health and Safety Instructor

Barbara Ann came to Academy Canada in 1997, and has served as both a Business Administration Instructor and current an Admissions Officer. Her education background include a BComm and Certificate of Post Secondary Education, both from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Jim Hedges | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

30 years experience as an Electrician having worked on aircraft, industrial automation, marine and commercial systems. Also, proficient with computers and computer controlled automated process control.

Louis Hodder | Steamfitting/Pipefitting Instructor

Journeyperson Steamfitter/Pipefitter and a Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate. He recently completed his Vocational Education Diploma program at Memorial University and he brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry to the Steamfitting/Pipefitting program at Academy Canada.

Erin Hogan | Occupational Health and Safety Instructor

Erin came to Academy Canada in January 2010. She has a Diploma in Food Production Quality from Marine Institute of Newfoundland. She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge in her field.

Frank Kelly | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Frank Kelly started with us in January 2011. He has his two journeyman Certificates in Industrial and Construction Electrician with over 35 years working in various places including IOC in Labrador.

Francie Lockwood | Home Support Worker/Personal Care Attendant Instructor

Francie Lockwood became our Home Support Worker/ Personal Care Attendant Instructor in January of this year. She brings 25 years experience as a Registered Nurse. Having being employed in St. John's three Acute Care Hospitals, she possesses vast and diverse experience, which she is thrilled to pass to her students.

Mike Melay | Plumbing Instructor

Mike started working with Academy Canada in March 2009. He is a Red seal Journeyman plumber with over 30 years experience in his field.

Angela Mooney | Occupational Health and Safety Instructor

Angela came to Academy Canada in October 2009. She has a Diploma in Industrial Engineering Technology and an Advanced Diploma in Safety Engineering Technology, both received from College of North Atlantic. She brings with her over 7 years experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field.

Bernard Murphy | Construction/Industrial Electrician Instructor

Bernard started with Academy Canada in January 2011. Bern is a Journeyman Construction Electrician and Industrial Electrician with over 45 years experience in the field.

Faron Penney | Automotive Service Technician Instructor

Journeyperson Motor Vehicle Mechanic with over 14 years in the Automotive industry. Mr. Penny has a teaching diploma from Memorial University and is working towards his Degree in Post-Secondary Education.

Bob Quirke | Welding Instructor

Red Seal Journeyperson Welder with over 30 years teaching experience. Currently teaches the Advanced Welding courses.

Greg Saunders | Steamfitting/Pipefitting Instructor

Journeyperson Steamfitter/Pipefitter with over 10 years experience in the construction industry. Mr. Saunders experience in both small and large construction projects is very beneficial to students enrolled in this program. Currently working towards a Diploma in Vocational Education.

Alex Shields | Photographic Studies Instructor

Alex came to Academy Canada as an Instructor for the Photographic Studies program, bringing with him over 30 years experience as a Professional Photographer and over 25 years teaching experience in both Education and Media fields. He has held several different Management positions with the provincial government, was co-founder of several community organizations, and is the owner of Photographic Studies/All Occassion Video and Photography.

Tony Snow | Plumbing Instructor

Journeyman Plumber and Gasfitter with 28 years experience in boiler maintenance and residential maintenance. Presently, a Plumbing Instructor at Academy Canada.

Gary Spurrell | Related Courses Instructor

Mr. Spurrel brings a wealth of education and experience to the delivery of our academic courses. With a Bachelor of Education Degree, a Bachelor of Arts Degree and over 7 years teaching experience both in Newfoundland and Quebec. Students can expect high quality education in the related academic courses at Academy Canada.

Russell Stacey | Steamfitting/Pipefitting Instructor

Journeyperson Steamfitter/Pipefitter with over 40 years experience in the field. Russell received the Harding Road Campus Instructor Award for the 2008-2009 college year.

Ron Sullivan – Occupational Health and Safety Instructor

Ron Started with Academy Canada in September 2010. He has a very diverse background as a retired OPP officer and a fitness trainer and leader. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Waterloo and a certificate in Legal Studies in Policing from Dalhousie University.

Randy Tilley | Carpentry Instructor

Real Seal Journeyperson Carpenter with over 10 years experience in the Carpentry field. Randy has worked as a Carpenter in every Construction related field.

Jennifer Vatcher | Related Training Instructor

Jennifer started with Academy Canada in April 2010 as a related Instructor on our Harding Road Campus then moved into the position of Apprenticeship Coordinator in June 2010. As part of her role, she works closely with the Division of Industrial Training, Department of Education, Industry, and Apprenticeships across Canada. She also arranges all advanced training classes for both the St. John's and Corner Brook campuses.
