Flooring Installer*Diploma of Vocational EducationDuration: 40 Weeks Program DescriptionGraduates of the Flooring Installer Program will have the skills to handle, cut, fit, install, replace and repair a variety of floor coverings and underlayment. They will work with cushion, carpet, vinyl, tile, sheet flooring, pre-finished hardwood and laminate flooring. Graduates will also have skills relating to workplace safety, customer service, and entrepreneurial awareness. As Flooring Installers, graduates may be responsible for site visits, planning, scheduling and job estimation. Program Courses
Employment OpportunitiesFlooring Installers are employed by construction companies, floor covering contractors, installation companies, flooring retailers or they may be self-employed. Flooring Installers, install and service floor coverings in residential, industrial, commercial and institutional settings. New home/ building construction including renovation and maintenance requirements provide job opportunities for Flooring Installers. Entrance RequirementsHigh School Graduates or EquivalentHigh School Graduates or equivalent are eligible for admission into the Flooring Installer program. Students must complete an application form and provide a copy of High School, Adult Basic Education or G.E.D. results. Under certain circumstances students who do not complete the formal High School requirements may be accepted upon the recommendation of a High School Principal or Guidance Counselor. Please contact an Admissions Officer for further details. Mature StudentsMature Students are eligible for admission into the Flooring Installer Program. Those students must be 19 years of age or older, complete an application form, provide a copy of their most recent marks and write a Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) arranged by Academy Canada.
