Program Description

Academy Canada’s Geological Engineering Studies program prepares students to work in the mining and explorations industry. Students will acquire knowledge of minerals and rock identification, prospecting techniques, mine workings, surveying and computer skills. The program includes the skills and knowledge to enable the graduate to assist in locating and evaluating mineral deposits.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates from the Geological Engineering Studies program may be eligible for employment (depending on specific hiring practices) with exploration and mining companies. Graduates can apply for employment involving surveying, drafting, and claim staking/general assessments. Opportunities may also be created through entrepreneurial activities and contractual positions.

Entrance Requirements

High School Graduates or Equivalent

High School Graduates or equivalent are eligible for admission to the Geological Engineering Studies program. Students must complete an application form and provide a copy of High School, Adult Basic Education, or G.E.D. results. Under certain circumstances, students who do not meet the formal high school requirements may be accepted upon the recommendation of the Guidance Counsellor or High School Principal. Mature Students

Mature students are eligible for admission to the Geological Engineering Studies program. These students must be at least 19 years of age, complete an application form, provide a copy of recent marks and write a Canadian Adult Achievement Test, arranged by Academy Canada.
