Admissions Policy

The Academy Canada Admissions Policy states:

  1. Applicants must submit a High School Transcript, Adult Basic Education (ABE) Diploma, General Education Development (GED) Diploma, or have met the minimum requirements on the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) on or before registration day. Applicants will be given 72 hours to audit classes, after which time if academic entrance requirements are not produced, they will not be permitted to return to class.
  2. Students are permitted to audit classes for the first 21 days while awaiting submission of entrance requirements, including all documentation other than requirements listed in Section 1. The student will work with the Admissions Office to ensure all documentation is submitted. If after 21 days, the student does not submit the necessary documentation, they will not be permitted to return to class.
  3. Academy Canada will not sign a student's contract of study until such time as all entrance requirements have been met with documentation submitted.

Who can apply?

High School Graduate - If you possess a High School, Adult Basic Education, or General Education Development Diploma, you are eligible to apply to Academy Canada as a high school graduate. Documentation must be submitted on or before the first day of class.

Modified High School Diploma - Students who have completed a modified high school curriculum or modified high school courses, such as an Individualized Education Plan or IEP, the third digit of a course number will be a 6 or 8 or the letter M, maybe eligible for admission based on one or more of the following requirements:

  1. Instructor interview with supporting documentation.
  2. Admissions Officer conducted assessment of past work experience and/or post-secondary education.
  3. College Administrator interview with supporting documentation.
  4. Recommendation Letters from High School Official(s) detailing modifications required and/or documented learning disability(ies).

Mature Student - If you do not have a High School Diploma, but are age 19 or older, you can apply to Academy Canada as a mature student. Students must submit their most recent marks and complete the Canadian Adult Achievement Test prior to admission.

International Students - Original or certified true copies of transcripts from other countries must be submitted directly to Academy Canada's Admissions Office. The Admissions Officer will determine if the achievement level is equivalent to Newfoundland and Labrador.

What do I need to apply?

Your application is complete if:

  1. You have completed the application form with all correct personal information and program information.
  2. You have included all High School transcripts, ABE Diploma, GED results, or completed a Canadian Adult Achievement Test.
  3. You have included a non-refundable processing fee.
  4. You have included all program specific entrance requirements.

Specific Entrance Requirements - Individual Academy Canada programs may stipulate specific entrance requirements for admission, including specific courses and minimum grades. Programs may also stipulate non-academy requirements for admission such as a clear conduct certificate, medical assessment, interview, entrance exam, etc. Please refer to the program information pages for these specific academy requirements.

When should I apply?

There are no deadlines for application submissions. All applicants will be admitted on a first come, first served basis according to Admissions Office received application date.
