Articulation Agreements and Partnerships

While everyone at Academy Canada is confident in the work that we do, it always helps to have independent third parties evaluate us as well. That is why we seek out as many external endorsements (accreditations, partnerships, and agreements) as possible for our programs.

We believe that these validations provide comfort to students and offer them an assurance that they are getting an exceptional education that is recognized by employers and industry.

A sample of our most important partnerships and accreditations by type can be found below.

Trades: Accreditation

Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Division (ATCD)
The ATCD is an arm of the provincial government that accredits Apprenticeship programs at career colleges, unions, and public schools. It pursues a rigorous process that assesses program content, facilities, equipment, instructors, student supports, graduate success, employer satisfaction and overall approach to training annually. Students can be confident that their training meets the high standards set by the Apprenticeship system and expected by employers.

Academy Canada has had the following apprenticeship programs accredited (and reaccredited):

University Articulation: Multiple Programs

Yorkville University
Academy Canada is pleased to have signed a Collaboration Agreement with Yorkville University to offer our graduates from 17 different AC programs with a block transfer of credits towards Yorkville’s Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Academy Canada programs included in the articulation agreement include:

Graduates of all 22 programs will receive a block transfer of credits towards Yorkville University’s BBA degree program.

Yorkville’s BBA degree is recognized by the Certified General Accountants (CGA) of Ontario and also has approved credit transfer of certain courses towards professional designations offered by the National Payroll Institute.

Yorkville is a Canadian national university that offers leading professional degree programs through an innovative online learning platform. Business Administration: Credit Transfer Agreement

National Payroll Institute

Course equivalency recognition for the Accounting and Organizational Behaviour courses. For any students who wish to pursue, through the National Payroll Institute, a designation such as Payroll Compliance Practitioner or Certified Payroll Manager, these courses can automatically be transferred for credit and will be accepted by the National Payroll Institute as equivalent to their Introduction to Accounting and Organizational Behaviour Management courses.

Academy Canada is delighted to have our Accounting and Organizational Behaviour courses accepted by the National Payroll Institute for credit transfer.

Criminology: Credit Transfer Agreement

Cape Breton University
Advanced standing towards Cape Breton University’s Bachelor of Arts Community Studies (BACS) program. Graduates may be eligible to receive up to 45 credits towards a 90 credit BACS 3-year degree at Cape Breton University with a variety of minor/major options to choose from.

Interior Decorating: Credential Recognition

Decorators and Designers Association of Canada
The Decorators and Designers Association of Canada is a professional not-for-profit Association representing both student and accredited decorators and designers, and affiliate businesses across Canada. DDAC is the most influential Association representing decorators in Canada and recognizes Academy Canada’s Interior Decorating Program. We are listed on DDAC website.

Law Enforcement Foundations: Credit Transfer Agreement

Cape Breton University
Advanced standing towards Cape Breton University’s Bachelor of Arts Community Studies (BACS) program. Graduates may be eligible to receive up to 45 credits towards a 90 credit BACS 3-year degree at Cape Breton University with a variety of minor/major options to choose from.

Massage Therapy: Credit Transfer Agreement

Thompson Rivers University
Massage Therapy graduates will be granted 69 credits towards the successful completion of Thompson Rivers University’s Bachelor of Health Science degree program.

Massage Therapy: Partnership

Medix College
Medix is one of the largest and most respected colleges in Ontario. It has developed a reputation for offering high quality programs in the medical and personal care field. For over 40 years Medix College has been providing industry leading Health Care career training for those looking to become medical professionals. Currently, Medix College has six campuses across Ontario, including Brampton, Brantford, Kitchener, London, Scarborough and Toronto.

Academy Canada is pleased to be partnering with Medix in the delivery of our Massage Therapy program.

Occupational Health & Safety: Certification

Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals
The mission statement of the BCRSP is to promote occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and public safety through the certification of qualified occupational health, safety and environmental professionals. Academy Canada’s Occupational Health and Safety Program meets the formal education requirements for certification with the BCRSP. Graduates must meet other personal requirements to become eligible to register for BCRSP certification. Information is available on the BCRSP website.

Occupational Health and Safety: University Articulation

Cape Breton University
Occupational Health and Safety graduates will be granted 45 credits towards the successful completion of Cape Breton University’s Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health) degree program.

Cape Breton University’s “Bachelor of Health Sciences (Public Health)” program focuses on Environmental Health. It centres on keeping people healthy in the places they live, work and play.

Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences
Academy Canada is extremely pleased to have an Articulation Agreement with Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences (PCU-WHS). This agreement provides graduates of Academy Canada’s Occupational Health and Safety program with advanced standing with PCU-WHS.

Pacific Coast University will grant Occupational Health and Safety graduates 67.5 credits towards the 120 credits required for the Bachelor of Disability Management degree.

The Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences is a non-profit, special-purpose university headquartered in Port Alberni, British Columbia. It is a statutory degree granting education and research institution for the special purpose of creating and disseminating new knowledge including applied research in the fields of return to work and disability management, workplace safety, health promotion, comprehensive rehabilitation and disability leadership studies. http://www.pcu-whs.ca/about-pcu-whs/. We are proud to acknowledge that this articulation agreement is a cornerstone that promotes and enhances student success. A collaborative effort such as this demonstrates institutional commitment to assist students with achieving academic excellence.

Paralegal Studies: Membership

Canadian Association of Paralegals
Academy Canada is pleased to continue their commitment to providing Paralegal Studies students with the tools and training that meet industry standards and expectations. Second year Paralegal Studies students at AC are eligible to become Canadian Association of Paralegals (CAP) members. Active membership offers students great networking opportunities and provides a forum through which to acquire up-to-date information on their field. The Canadian Association of Paralegals is a national organization promoting the development, visibility, and continuing education of legal professionals.

Therapeutic Recreation: Membership

NL Therapeutic Recreation Association
Academy Canada’s Therapeutic Recreation students are members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Therapeutic Recreation Association (NLTRA). The NLTRA recognizes and supports the educational efforts of Academy Canada for the diploma level Therapeutic Recreation (Disability Support and Geriatric Professional) program. The association represents the professional interest of therapeutic practitioners and their clients throughout the province.

Therapeutic Recreation: Credit Transfer Agreement and Curriculum Partnership

Douglas College
Academy Canada has signed a lease agreement that enables our graduates to apply for transfer of credit at Douglas College.

Therapeutic Recreation students, upon completion of their two-year program, will be able to apply for transfer of credit into the Therapeutic Recreation degree program at Douglas College.

Douglas College will conduct an assessment of Academy Canada’s Therapeutic Recreation curriculum to determine a transfer agreement which can provide graduates of Academy Canada’s Therapeutic Recreation program transfer credit up to 60 credits and an opportunity to apply to the College’s Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation degree program.

University of Lethbridge
Our recently-established articulation agreement with University of Lethbridge, established in 2021, makes graduates of Academy Canada’s two-year diploma in Therapeutic Recreation eligible to apply for admission into the Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation program at the University of Lethbridge. If admitted, the students will be third-year level students at the University of Lethbridge in its Faculty of Health Sciences in all respects.
