Computer Aided Drafting; Home Support Worker/Personal Care Attendant; Early Childhood Education

Academy Canada employers have indicated that there are not enough talented Computer Aided Drafting, Home Support Worker/Personal Care Attendants or Early Childhood Education professionals being trained. To help encourage greater participation in this exciting occupation, we are offering up to 30 scholarships of $1,000 to qualified applicants who begin these programs. It is hoped that the availability of additional graduates in these areas will help satisfy the demand from local, national and international companies for well-trained workers.

High School/ABE Graduation Scholarship

(50 available @ $500-1,000 ea)

Open to any applicant who either 1) is currently enrolled in Adult Basic Education or High School Level III and plans to attend Academy Canada within the 12 months following graduation or 2) has graduated from Adult Basic Education or High School within the last 12 months.

Awards of $1000 are available for the following programs: Business Administration, Computer Aided Drafting, Criminology, Esthetics & Spa Management with Electrolysis, Natural Resources, Massage Therapy, Multimedia Graphic Design, Music & Recording Arts, Occupational Health & Safety, Office Administration Technology, Paralegal Studies, Supply Chain & Logistics and Therapeutic Recreation. Awards of $500 are available for all other programs.

Worker Transition Bursary

(25 available @ $500-1,000 ea)

Open to any applicant who has been laid off from a job within the last 18 months and will be taking an Academy Canada program to retrain within the next 12 months. Bursaries of $1000 are available for the following programs: Business Administration, Computer Aided Drafting, Criminology, Esthetics & Spa Management with Electrolysis, Natural Resources, Massage Therapy, Multimedia Graphic Design, Music & Recording Arts, Occupational Health & Safety, Office Administration Technology, Paralegal Studies, Supply Chain & Logistics and Therapeutic Recreation. Awards of $500 are available for all other programs.

Canadian Forces Military Spouses Bursary

(5 available @ $1,000 ea)

Academy Canada has a tuition reduction program for the spouses of Canadian Forces members. We wish to support Canadian Forces families by assisting military spouses in the pursuit to further their education and career goals. Spouses of Canadian Forces members who have served at least three years are eligible for the Academy Canada scholarship program. For military spouses already enrolled, tuition reduction will come into effect at the start of the semester subsequent to the student becoming eligible.

Eligible students are entitled to a total $1000 tuition reduction as long as their spouse remains an active Canadian Forces member. The tuition reduction will be in scholarship/bursary form. Students are responsible to pay any applicable income taxes on these funds.

YMCA Entrepreneurship Scholarship

(5 available $500 each)

As a corporate partner of the YMCA Enterprise Olympics program, Academy Canada is pleased to provide a scholarships for students who participate in the YMCA Enterprise Olympics program or complete the Entrepreneur 3209 high school course and register in either of Academy Canada’s 35 diverse fields of study. These scholarships will assist recipients with their educational tuition costs and can be used at any Academy Canada campus. YMCA and Academy Canada are proud to support the ambitions of Newfoundland/Labrador’s entrepreneurially minded youth!

School Sports NL Athlete Future Prospects

(5 available $500 ea)

As a platinum corporate partner of School Sports NL, Academy Canada is pleased to provide a scholarship program for graduating students. These scholarships will assist recipients with their educational costs at an Academy Canada campus. SSNL and Academy Canada see the value of Sportsmanship and Participation in Extra-curricular activities in helping to develop students and prepare them for post-secondary education. These scholarships will help students in reaching their academic and career goals.

Massage Addict Tuition Reimbursement Program – Academy Canada

Attention Academy Canada graduates – we can help get your career off to a great start and pay off student loans faster! The Massage Addict Tuition Reimbursement Program offers the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 in tuition reimbursement in addition to the compensation you will receive practicing in a Massage Addict Clinic. Scholarship Rules/Guidelines

Values of each scholarship as well as the maximum number awarded is noted on the “Featured Scholarships” page (see back).

Scholarship recipients must maintain enrollment in the Academy Canada program for which the scholarship applies. If the scholarship recipient withdraws from Academy Canada prior to graduation the scholarship becomes invalid. Scholarships will be credited to the student’s account during the last semester of the program.

Scholarships are valid at any of Academy Canada’s campuses.

Scholarships must be presented to the Business Office in the year that they are awarded unless special circumstances exist in which case a written request must be made to the Board of Directors.

Recipient agrees to allow their name and image to be used in announcements by Academy Canada and our scholarship partners.

Scholarship applications must be submitted prior to the start of class (unless otherwise noted).
