Academy Canada Webmaster Wins Two Special Olympics Canada Awards


Academy Canada Webmaster, Jack Barrett, was elected this year's Special Olympics Canada award winner in not one, but two categories.

Jack was elected the 2015 Special Olympics Canada "Male Athlete of the Year" and "Dr. Frank Hayden Athlete Lifetime Achievement" award winner.

This achievement marks the first time that a Special Olympian has received multiple Special Olympics Canada awards the same year.

Congratulations, Jack on a job well done throughout his 28 year Special Olympics career.

About the "Male Athlete of the Year" Award

The "Male Athlete of the Year" award is chosen based on athletic achievements and exemplification of the Special Olympics spirit.

About the "Dr. Frank Hayden Athlete Lifetime Achievement" Award

The "Dr. Frank Hayden Athlete Lifetime Achievement" award is presented to a Special Olympian whom has achieved long term success, constantly served as a role model to their fellow athletes, and exemplified the true spirit of Special Olympics.

This award is named after Dr. Frank Hayden, a Physical Education researcher whose research on athletes with intellectual disabilities held led to Special Olympics being established in 1968.
