At the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece, Academy Canada Webmaster, Jack Barrett, won three gold medals and one silver medal in Powerlifting.
Despite having a rocky start in the Squat as well as hit with a stomach virus three days before his competition, Jack Squatted 267.5 kilograms for a new unofficial Special Olympics World Record. He also lifted 130 kilograms in the Bench Press and 285 kilograms in the Deadlift.
At the end of the contest, Jack received three gold medals in the men's super-heavyweight division, one in the Squat, Deadlift, and overall, and a silver medal in the Bench Press.
Congratulations to Jack on his amazing lifts at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games. He made Academy Canada as well as Canada proud.
