Program Description

The Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality program will immerse students into one of the most dynamic fast-paced industries on the globe. This CITC (Canadian Institute of Travel Counselors) endorsed program prepares students to work in various sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Students prepare to become professional travel counsellors while being exposed to tourist activities and opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industry. The program provides exposure to all aspects of the industry including reservations, hotels, bed and breakfasts, marketing, etc. Students will participate in the CITC Knowledge Exam to begin the process of industry recognition early in their career. This industry standard examination is separate from course examinations required for the Diploma of Applied Arts from Academy Canada.

Employment Opportunities

Upon successful completion of the Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality program, which includes a work term, graduates are qualified to work in a variety of travel, tourism, and hospitality related occupations, and are well prepared with the combined study of world destinations, tourism and hospitality courses as well as customer service and selling. Graduates may be eligible (depending on specific hiring practices) for employment in all fields of travel planning as well as tourism promotion and planning.
