On October 3, 2021, Academy Canada Webmaster, Jack Barrett, officially became the first Special Olympian to be inducted into Canada’s highest permanent sports honours, Canada Sports Hall of Fame as well as the “Order of Sport”.

For Jack, it wasn’t just an exciting moment for him, but also the 41,000 true heroes across Canada and the 5 million true heroes worldwide, the Special Olympics athletes themselves whom prove to themselves in sport and life every day.

Congratulations to Jack as well as Duncan Campbell (Wheelchair Rugby, Builder), Sonja Gaudet (Paralympic Curling), Diane Jones Konihowski (Athletics), Lorie Kane (Golf), Sheldon Kennedy (Ice Hockey, Builder), Judy Kent (Sports Administration, Builder), Eric Lamaze and Hickstead (Equestrian Showjumping), Steve Nash (Basketball), Willie O’Ree (Ice Hockey, Builder), and Ross Powless (Lacrosse, Builder).
