President’s Award
The President’s Award is Academy Canada’s highest honour awarded to one student from each graduating year who reflects the ideals we strive to instill in our graduates including leadership, professionalism, positive attitude, good overall average and a willingness to participate in school activities.
Staff members provide recommendations to Academy Canada’s president, Mr. Mike Barrett, who selects a recipient. A difficult decision to make as several students were deserving of this award.
Mr. Colin Burridge, Principal, presented this award to:

Allan J. Gillespie Memorial Scholarship Award
Academy Canada lost a good friend and a member of our family on April 24, 2022 with the passing of Allan James Gillespie. Al, as he was known by, had a very successful career as a heavy equipment salesperson and was also the Mayor of the Town of Massey Drive up to the time of his passing. He was, however, most proud of his family.
Through his work, Al built countless relationships with customers, contacts, and friends yet always thought about going back to school to pursue an education in Business.
The Allan J. Gillespie Memorial Scholarship Fund is a legacy arranged by his loving family; wife Sandra, sons Blake and Brandon, and daughter-in-law Stacey. This fund annually recognizes a business student of Academy Canada in honor of Al’s career and love for the work.
Ms. Sandra Gillespie, Business Administration Instructor, presented the Allan J. Gillespie Memorial Scholarship Award to this year’s winner, Sandra Joyce.
