Program Description
Academy Canada’s Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program is designed to provide students with the essential foundation of skills, knowledge and abilities required for computer-aided design, drafting and modeling in two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) project environments. These skills are in high demand, and will prepare graduates for rewarding careers in a wide range of industries, such as civil, construction, mechanical, and naval architectural fields.
Program Courses
In this program, students will become skilled in 2-D and 3-D computer-assisted drafting using AutoCAD, a leading industry-standard software application for computer-aided design and drafting used world-wide. The program begins with fundamental courses in design, drafting, sketching, technical mathematics and AutoCAD basics, then elevates to more advanced practical courses and applications, enabling students to create, capture and showcase their designs and newfound skills.

Employment Opportunities
Employment opportunities for graduates of Academy Canada’s CAD program exist in industries where products or structures need to be created according to client specifications, such as in construction, mechanical, civil engineering or naval architectural firms. Graduates will be a vital part of multi-disciplinary teams when they enter industry, working under the supervision of designers or engineers to produce drawings, plans, diagrams or layouts through computer-assisted and conventional methods. In the field, graduates will convert ideas and concepts for new products and designs into accurate drawings that specify size, shape, materials and other details; these drawings will be used to lead successful manufacturing, consulting and construction of a desired product or structure.
