ISS Study Programs at Academy Canada: What Is It?
At NASA, ISS stands for the International Space Station, but at Academy Canada in St. John’s ISS stands for Information Systems Specialist, a modern profession rooted in Information Technology (IT). ISS involves analyzing, testing, and assessing computer system requirements, and more. Keep reading to find out what else an ISS does and how a Newfoundlander can become one.
What Does an Information Systems Specialist Do?
On the surface, an ISS resembles an Information Technology specialist; however, an ISS generally goes deeper into their work and focuses on more specialized analysis, design, and system implementations. This is in large part due to the length and depth of their professional formation. ISS study programs are also longer and more in depth than information technology programs. Here are some jobs that Information Systems Specialist are hired to do:
- Computer Support Specialist: Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for computer systems, and help users resolve hardware and software issues through direct support and guidance.
- Network Architect: Design and plan complex computer networks and create comprehensive network infrastructure strategies for organizations.
- Network Administrator: Manage, maintain, and monitor an organization’s computer networks to ensure optimal performance, security, and connectivity.
- Technical Support: Offer technical guidance and problem-solving assistance to users experiencing technology-related challenges across various platforms.
- Desktop Technician: Maintain and repair computer hardware, install software, and provide direct technical support for desktop computing systems.
- Network Engineer/Security Specialist: Develop, implement, and protect an organization’s network infrastructure, focusing on security protocols and system optimization.
