Academy Canada and the Royal Canadian Navy Launch New Educational Path
Posted June 23, 2026
Academy Canada is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) that creates an exciting pathway for students interested in careers in information technology, communications, and national service.
Through the Canadian Armed Forces’ Non-Commissioned Member Subsidized Training and Education Plan (NCMSTEP), Academy Canada’s Information Technology Associate program has been approved as a recognized educational pathway for individuals pursuing a career as a Naval Communicator within the Royal Canadian Navy.
This opportunity allows eligible students to receive paid education while completing their studies. Participants may have tuition, books, and academic equipment covered while earning a salary and benefits as members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Academy’s Information Technology Associate program provides students with hands-on training in networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, Microsoft technologies, Linux administration, and systems support. Graduates develop the technical skills required to support modern communications and information systems in a variety of environments.
The collaboration builds upon a growing relationship between Academy Canada and the Royal Canadian Navy. Earlier this year, Academy Canada leadership participated in the Canadian Leaders Alongside Program at HMCS Cabot and toured HMCS Frederick Rolette, gaining first-hand insight into the leadership, teamwork, and technical expertise that define today’s Royal Canadian Navy.
“We are excited to work alongside the Royal Canadian Navy to help students access meaningful careers while receiving a high-quality education,” said Lisa Lovelady. “This pathway creates opportunities for students to develop in-demand technical skills while serving Canada in an important and rewarding role.”
