Encouraging Equal Opportunities

It is Academy Canada’s belief that all potential students who meet entrance requirements and have a desire to succeed should be able to pursue their post-secondary dreams.

As indicate in our Mission Statement, Academy Canada is committed to providing a quality education to all students regardless of age, gender, and physical ability.

It is the College’s policy is to provide equal enrollment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation.  It is committed to making good faith efforts to reach individuals with disabilities, women and minorities with information about our programs, particularly in career fields where women or minorities are not currently well represented.

The college accepts responsibility to create a diverse learning environment and implement recruitment/selection processes that are transparent and non-discriminatory. All designated groups have equal access to training and development opportunities, and our resources. All recruitment presentations are planned in such a way as to ensure that they are not based on stereotypical assumptions.

Academy Canada is committed to providing an excellent and challenging learning environment for students and staff. The college aims to create an anti-discriminatory environment through its policies and procedures. In addition, curricula, teaching and learning methods and schedules recognize the need for all groups to have equal opportunities.  Academy Canada also looks to its advertising to provide positive images that promote the inclusion and participation of designed groups - such as women and minority groups in non-traditional occupations.

Accommodating Students with Learning Disabilities

The college is committed to providing quality education to all its students in a learning environment that is supportive of individual needs. To that end, Academy Canada has developed a handbook, Strategies and Procedures: Accommodating Students with Special Needs, to help faculty and staff provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations where required.

Students with diagnosed learning disabilities may request special services to accommodate their learning difficulties. Campus Administration coordinates these services in conjunction with a classroom instructor.  It is, however, a student’s responsibility to make their requirements known to campus staff. The accommodation process is one of collaboration between student and instructor. Academy Canada Instructors are willing to accommodate all types of disabilities and are supportive of students' accommodation requests. All faculty and staff work with students with disabilities so their career goals can be achieved.
