Pride Month 2023
Celebrated annually from June – September, Pride Season celebrates 2SLGBTQAI+ people around the world.
The first Pride celebration held in Canada was just three years after the Stonewall Riots in New York in June 1969, an event that sparked the gay liberation movement. Within a few years, thousands were attending Pride celebrations around the world.
Since their origins in 1969, Pride celebrations have evolved into a movement to celebrate acceptance and equality for the 2SLGBTQAI+ community around the globe.

At Academy Canada, we are committed to the creation and continuance of positive spaces where everyone is welcome and encouraged to be themselves.
We encourage our community to learn more about local 2SLGBTQIA+ community and support centres such as QuadrangleNL, Trans Support NL, and PFLAG NL during Pride Season and year-round!
