Animal Grooming ProfessionalDiploma of Applied ArtsDuration: 2 semesters plus 4 week work term Program DescriptionHave you always dreamed of a career working with and caring for animals? Academy Canada’s two semester Animal Grooming Professional program may be right for you. Originally developed by Northern College of Ontario, this hands-on program will teach students the technical skills needed to either gain employment with an existing company or to start their own business. The program focuses on animal behavior and dog/cat grooming strategies as well as client relations. Program Courses
Employment OpportunitiesUpon successful completion of the Animal Grooming Professional program, graduates will find employment (depending on specific hiring practices) in veterinary clinics, pet grooming centres, pet stores, or for yourself in your own business. Entrance RequirementsHigh School Graduates or EquivalentHigh School Graduates or Equivalent are eligible for admission to the Animal Grooming Professional program. Students must complete an application form and provide a copy of High School, Adult Basic Education, or G.E.D. results. Under certain circumstances, students who do not complete the formal High School requirements may be accepted upon the recommendation of a High School Principal or Guidance Counsellor. Please contact an Admissions Officer for further details. Tetanus VaccinationA Tetanus Vaccination is mandatory for the Animal Grooming Professional program. Students are responsible for obtaining this vaccination from either their family doctor or a Public Health Nurse. Completed Tetanus Vaccination Confirmation Forms must be submitted to the Academy Canada Registrar’s Office before your first study semester ends. Mature StudentsMature Students are eligible for admission to the Animal Grooming Professional program. These students must be at least 19 years of age, complete an application form, provide a copy of recent marks, and write a Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT) as arranged by Academy Canada.
