2026 Montana’s Brier – Volunteer Opportunities

Curling Canada are now recruiting volunteers for the 2026 Montana’s Brier to be held from February 27, 2026 to March 8, 2026 at the Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s.

Volunteers must be age 16 or older by the first scheduled shift, commit to at least 20 hours of volunteer work, sign a waiter, adhere to the Code of Conduct, and submit to a Criminal Background Check.

Registration fee to sign up as a volunteer is $100.

However, this fee will cover volunteer uniform, access to the famous Patch, limited edition pin, food and beverage vouchers, access to watching Curling action when not doing their shifts, access to watching Curling action after the third end unless ticket holder claims their seat, and so much more.

Adult Basic Education Instructor Summary

Instructor(s) play a vital role in the successful delivery of Academy Canada’s programs. Adult Basic Education Instructors are responsible for providing high-quality instruction to adult learners, ensuring that course content is delivered effectively and in alignment with program outcomes and regulatory requirements. The instructor will facilitate learning through discussions, practical activities, and assessments while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Adult Basic Education Instructor - Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Adult Basic Education courses (Level I, II and III)
  • Develop and/or adapt assessments to meet learner needs
  • Maintain student records including attendance and progress reports
  • Support learners in achieving their personal, academic, and career goals
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
  • Liaise with administration, support staff, and community partners as required
  • Manage daily operations of the satellite classroom, including scheduling and reporting
  • Maintain a professional demeanour at all times

"Adult Basic Education Instructor" Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Education with a minimum of 6 courses in Math, Science or English
  • Effective communication, problem-solving and classroom management skills
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet set deadlines
  • Experience in providing differentiated instruction
  • Ability to work independently in a remote or satellite environment
  • Proficiency in the use of educational technology and online learning tools

"Adult Basic Education Instructor" Preferred Skills:

  • Experience teaching adult learners
  • Familiarity with Newfoundland and Labrador's ABE curriculum

Admissions Officer Responsibilities:

The Admissions Officer plays a key role in recruiting and supporting prospective students through Academy Canada’s admissions process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting outreach activities to attract prospective students.
  • Guiding applicants through the enrollment process.
  • Providing detailed program information.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Fostering positive relationships with students and staff to create a welcoming and engaging environment.

Admissions Officer Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in business, marketing, communications, education, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a related field or at least two (2) years of experience in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Experience with public speaking or presentations is required.
  • Experience in an educational setting or recruitment role is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office365 (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Familiarity with online communication tools such as MS Teams and Calendly is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work towards goals independently and as part of a team.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) are now accepting applications for its Cadet Training Program to start in January 2026.

The RNC Cadet Training Program selection process involves nine stages, including written, oral, and physical components.

Cadets will train at the Atlantic Police Academy in Prince Edward Island.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates may be assigned to serve in any RNC jurisdiction.
