"Responsible Gaming Council" Visit

Representatives from Responsible Gambling Council visited the Corner Brook Campus on September 26, 2012 and September 27, 2012.

A booth was set up to inform students about problem gambling. Students had an opportunity to win an Apple IPad if they visited the booth.

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), established in 1983, is an independent, non-profit organization committed to problem gambling prevention. They design and deliver highly effective awareness programs, mainly focusing concentrate on educating and cautioning young people about gambling realities. RGC also promotes problem gambling identification and prevention through research and information dissemination.

With Atlantic Lottery provided sponsor, RGC visits colleges and universities throughout Atlantic Canada to set up interactive displays relating to problem gambling.

A problem gambling awareness program called KTS2 (Know the Score) is an interactive problem gambling awareness program engaging college and university students in a fun and informative way.

Four "Know The Score" program messages:

  • Looks at the real chances of winning and losing.
  • Highlights problem gambling warning signs.
  • Shares local problem gambling services.
  • Suggests ways to keep gambling safer.
